John Trainor is chief information officer and senior vice president of digital product at Aaron’s, Inc. Since 1999, he has helped lead technology and innovation efforts at the Atlanta-based specialty retailer. He has an Electrical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and worked at The Southern Company and the United States Senate before Aaron’s.
John leads a team that’s creating the future for Aaron’s by connecting its products and services with the modern, digitally focused consumer. He has one of the most engaged teams in the enterprise. This team is injecting digital innovation practices into the way we all work to help accelerate our transformation.
John is active in the Atlanta technology community and spends time volunteering with the Technology Association of Georgia, ATP, and GeorgiaCIOs. He’s the Chairman of the CIO Advisory Board for GeorgiaCIO’s and past Chairman of the Board for the Technology Association of Georgia. In 2014, he was recognized as the Georgia CIO of Year Award in the Global category.
He believes strongly in closing the digital opportunity divide, so he actively supports organizations with that mission, including PowerMyLearning, Year Up, Women Who Code, and TechBridge.
John and his wife, Heather, live in Roswell, GA and have 3 grown sons. He likes to run, cycle, and swim long distances with family and friends.
